Get Your House in Order: A Little Blue (Repost)

Image
" This is the day the Lord has made.  I will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 A Cross you hold in your hand, on my fav flannel PJ's I had no idea that my color of the day would be blue. I don't feel blue, even though the rainy weather here in Birmingham, might trigger such a mood. I picked out my favorite navy blue shirt to wear and put it with gray pants, who knew those would go together for me so easily today? Smile. And my fav gray scarf. Blue and Gray, still sounds dreary huh? Anyway, off to work I go! Good so far.... I picked up Abby from school and told her I was looking forward to heading straight home to finish my work and put on my PJ's. I must have been dreaming  about it because when we got almost home, I mean, right to the street, that's when I saw them. BLUE LIGHTS. In the rear view mirror. Oh no.  So I pulled onto my street, the policeman right behind me, blue lights flashing. Hello neighbors:) The nice policeman wa

"See, I am doing a new thing!   Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:19 My question on the way home from church yesterday was... Wonder what the Lord has in store for us in 2016?? One thing I know for sure, He is with us! Get Your House in Order:Trust Issues

Image
"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes,"  Psalm 118:9 I framed Abby's doodling #loveit My life verse is "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 If I had to sum up my year of 2015 I would say that this verse, was tested, tried and turned into the greatest blessing! Trust. The foundation of any relationship. Trust by definition means "firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something." Trust is that has come relatively easy for me, but that's not always been such a good trait. Once I gave my life to Christ (truly made him my Lord at age 25), trust began to take on a whole different meaning. It no longer meant that "anything goes". There were truths that had to line up before I just jumped right into something. These truths are the Word of God. The a

Get Your House in Order: Restful Day

"Your statutes stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days, O LORD." Psalm 93:5 Foyer 2015 What a restful day it has been...after a solid month on the go, I collapsed:)  The only productive thing I did was take a walk and cook lunch! And a nap happened, heaven. I hope that yours day has been as delightful! Day#360 Breaks are refreshing Blessings,  Suzanne

Christmas Day

Image
"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit who is from God that we might know things that have been freely given to us by God...But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."  1 Corinthians 2:12,14 Pic of the day..Dad in his new hat! Merry Christmas! I have said many times, post after post, how different this year has been. And why would I think that the holidays would be any different? I did my shopping (all of it), three days before Christmas. Jeff and I  found ourselves painting the dining room right up until the Christmas Eve service last night. I was still putting out decorations this morning, just because. I wanted the manger  set out on the buffet, the one that I got out every single year growing up. I never really had a good place to put it at the other house. It seems perfect to begin our first Christmas in this house

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Repost of how "Get Your House in Order" Started

Image
"I will delight to do your will, O my God, and your law is within my heart." Psalm 40:8 A very Happy New Year to you! I am looking so forward to another year to walk with the Lord and see what all He has planned for 2015! In years past, I have been so busy planning and wishing and hoping for a different year, that I failed to really focus on what a new year could mean. What would my year look like if I started out, fully surrendered? What if my hands, heart, and home are open wide to Him and His plans only? This would mean I let go of any and all control (or the illusion of it that I have thought I held for so long..yikes) of my life in Christ. Please, Lord, take it, I am yours. "I will delight to do your will, O my God, and your law is within my heart." Psalm 40:8  This is the year.   To be disciplined.  To get my house in order,  spiritually and physically.  Over the past few months, I have been helping my parents clean out their attic

Get Your House in Order: Lighten Up

Image
"God demonstrates his own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 Christmas 2015  Is there not just something about Christmas lights that just make you feel like a kid again? They never seem to lose their wonder with me. So cheerful and bright among the darkness. A welcome distraction among the busyness reminding me to lighten up a bit, slow down and just enjoy! Christmas 2015 Enjoy celebrating the good news that a Savior was born! That He is the Light of the World shining just as bright as these Christmas lights in the darkest of places. King Jesus. We worship you. " Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before our Maker." Psalm 95:6   Thank you for the Cross. " Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength." Isaiah 40:31. Amen. Cancer Survivorship Video Interview Today

Image
"But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions,  do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."  2 Timothy 4:5 Young Breast Cancer Survivorship Network Video Shoot 2015 "I am at a great place!" are the words that ended my interview about Cancer Survivorship today! Almost seven years later, what a relief to be sitting there. Restored. This video shoot was set up like a "where you are now" after treatment, surgery, etc. I was one of seven participants and number seven, I must add. For me that was very appropriate going into my seventh year of remission from breast cancer.  The answers to questions came pretty smoothly, as this whole process still seems fresh at times.  I remembered that there is truly always a purpose in any pain. That as I walked through the diagnosis and treatment with other women, I saw and felt the emotions through the eyes of a caregiver and realized just how hard it was on my loved ones. Every va

Get Your House in Order: Choir Concert 2015

Image
"Because You are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings." Psalm 63:7 2015 7th grade Christmas Choir Concert The middle school choir concert was tonight and boy am I glad I forced a picture on Luke before hand...no hope for one afterwards. Haha! He is just too cute in that tux and the black shoes I luckily found yesterday (umm, Mom remember I need some shoes for the concert;0) He basically told me last year that he was sorry to torture us with the music. With this being his second year he seemed a little less uncomfortable and maybe a bit more confident!Jeff and I could atleast see him on stage this year and he did well! We are all ready to wrap up this week of school and start the Christmas break! Some slower pace days, no schedules, celebrating Christmas and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and probably some painting in this, on going project of a house, we call home! Though the process seems slow, I am thankful. To see His glory in all. What th

Get Your House in Order: A Must Read Repost

"Thus you will recognize them by their fruits." Matthew 7:20 (This is a repost from December 13, 2012) Mom and Dad this summer celebrating their birthdays.. 2012 My Dad shared this verse with me a few months back. His words were "Honey, there's a verse that goes with what your saying and it says "you will know them by their fruits." Always the word. Everything has to be backed up with the word of God, truth, and this is certainly one that took me a while to grasp. But when I did, talk about eye opening...oh dear, to come out of denial right into the open field of truth! And to hear it out of my Daddy's mouth, knowing that it came first from my Holy Father's mouth. Yep, it hurt too. You mean what I am seeing on the outside is an indicator of what's inside. All this time, I am only seeing what I want to see. And when I line up with the word of God to recognize them (whoever) by their fruit...I realize the fruit is not from the

Numbers 24-25 TherapySouth Christmas Party 2015 It's has been a Christmas kind of week, start to finish with TherapySouth this week! Made for lots of laughs:) I may be dreaming of Christmas tonight, white, red, green, whatever, just ready to lay my head down on the pillow! Now, I gotta get busy on the family and some gifts under the tree! Thank you Lord Jesus for my job and for all the people I work with that make up our TherapySouth family!Amen. It's a blessing! Get Your House in Order: More Quality Time

Image
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17 Abby and Clover 2015 Following up from last night's post is some QT (quality time) with Abby today, she was actually home, hooray! I get it, being sixteen means having the freedom to be on the go and with friends...seems like yesterday! Though it has been many yesterdays..haha! Having dinner at the table together was my favorite thing about this day! And her menu choice was nachos, easy peasy!  She was halarious when I told her I needed a picture. That Look. I quickly realized the basement ceiling just did not make a good back drop so I asked  her to follow me outside (as I was backing the car out of the garage) to go the grocery store. She and Clover happily posed and here ya go! Love that girl!  As I said last night about Luke, the seasons are changing and there are so many adjustments. I am cherishing the mo

" Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end." Psalm 119:33 Luke 7th grade..2015 "Get your house in order "at a whole new level! Organizing binders...smile! I've enjoyed getting to spend some time with Luke tonight. I picked him up from basketball practice and we decided to just grab fast food for dinner. We drove a different way home so we could look at Christmas lights. Seems boys get a little quieter as they age(not us girls, we talk MORE) so having that extra time in the car gave us some time to talk. He makes me laugh so hard. He says he is getting in the Christmas spirit, normally he is just as excited as I am to decorate, that too is changing. I am just enjoying the season we are in..day by day! Making adjustments, pulling in, letting go, grabbing moments with this sweet twelve year old every chance I get! What a blessing! Day#346 Quality Time Blessings, Suzanne

Get Your House in Order: Set Apart or Set Up?

Image
"I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born." Jeremiah 1:5 Den Mantle 2015 Hey Friends,  So sorry for the lack of writing lately, it's about all I can do to get something posted most days. I made a promise to myself to post every day for a year. "We" are almost there and I so appreciate you sweet souls who stop by. More than anything I hope that the verse somehow resonates with you each day. Today's sure did with me. Set Apart. Before we were born . And why is it that the longer we live our lives reflecting God's truth  we still fall right back into "blending in"  rather than being set apart? Because it's easier? Maybe. Because it's more popular? Probably more times than I can count. Because it looks like everyone else? Fear of standing up and out. I am quickly reminded that blending in is not part of His plan. That would be a set up. From the enemy. He hates for us to stand up

Get Your House in Order: Abby's Tree

Image
"So reach out  and welcome one another to God's glory.  Jesus did it, now you do it!" Romans 15:7 Harley and Boston would like to unveil Abby's tree.... Abby's Tree 2015 Sixteen years of collecting ornaments, mainly dogs, horses and a few pigs on a sweet tree wrapped in burlap! Of course my girl has animals on her Christmas tree! I must say this year her tree was done by a personal decorator......... (uh hum) because she has been on the go...smile! I didn't mind one bit, as I used that time to look at each ornament and remember the years. More importantly to pray and thank God for answered prayers. He is so faithful. So very faithful!O come let us adore Him! "He also brought me out into a broad place;  He delivered me because He delighted in me." Psalm 18:19  Day#343 Each season is a treasure Blessings. Suzanne

Get Your House in Order: A Christmas Mantle

Image
"So encourage each other and give each other strength, just as you are doing now." 1 Thessolonians 5:11  Woohoo..my big Friday night plans... Greenery, some magnolia leaves, pinecones, a few burlap poinsettas, red ornaments and a gold metal reindeer brought together a festive christmas mantle on our bedroom fireplace! Now we just need some wood...smile! It's quite interesting around here, trying to decorate for Christmas while sanding walls and such. However,  it does make for a white snowy white Christmas look. All over everything, that is! Hall and foyer ceilings are done and the walls are next. Little by little, we are making progress!
