Remove

"Remove Your plague from me; I am consumed by the blow of your hand." Psalm 39:10 I really feel led to write on this tonight. On New year's eve, 2012.  This verse is way deep in Psalms and it is a prayer I have said many times in my life, many times this year perhaps. Basically my version consists of "Take this away from me, Lord" whatever the "this" is: the hurt, the disappointment, the daunting task, the health issue, the worry. Though I must preface this is not my prayer tonight, I just wanted to close out the year being real! And iI thank God for the growth this year has blossomed!  When something hurts us we want it gone, Removed! It is my coping mechanism of choice (fleshly choice), to shut down, deny and begin my wall building. Those walls of denial seemingly kept me safe for years. Or is it that I am throwing off my Pollyanna gig and trying on a new way of living called reality?? I started the year out with a devotional by Beth M

Recall Part 2

Image
"This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope." Lamentations 3:21 Part 2: Sixth Grade Mission Trip July 23, 2012- July27, 2012 Abby with one of her bus buddies Day 4 I have just read my handwritten journal to Abby and we both agreed that I should just type it as is..however, let me set the scene for you. The children live in an apartment complex that is about thirty minutes from the camp. Every day our kids ride the charter buses over there to pick them up and to take them home. They are assigned buddies so they have time to share with them and just make a connection. And most of us girls got a braid while riding and singing songs on the bus!  July 24, 2012 Great first day...the kids, seeing Abby holding that little girl's hand (sweet girl had a big green bow in her hair), watching her dance and sing worship music with her, having her bible open, notebook open, writing down a verse Papa had written her in a letter, seeing her with her fr

Recall

Image
"This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope." Lamentations 3:21 Part 1: Before the trip Rocking and comforting the youngest Seeker Springs camper,  who had a terrible toothache, God's little angel. RECALL. Remebrance of what has been learned or experienced. The highlight of 2012 was the Sixth Grade Mission Trip to The Seeker Springs Camp in Eros, Louisiana!!! For many reasons, I wanted to recall this in my forty posts.. top of the list, to serve others as Christ calls us to and to do so alongside my sixth grader, Miss Abby is forever a memory I will cherish. This is not just a"sign up and go trip".  There are requirements. As I so often remind myself and the kids,  cost and  sacrifice are how we learn to experience life as God designed it. He gave us the ultimate sacrifice, His son, Jesus. So, I do love that this models that.  If you do not fulfill the requirements, and you make the committment way in advance, so no excuses..... you are

Reward

Image
" Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him." Psalm 127:3 Hey there! Here are some pictures of our Christmas, I have been slow to the finish line these past few days, not posting. Maybe I can catch up on a few of those while my little darlings are away for a few days to see their cousins in Charlotte!  Christmas day began at 6:00 am and I do have one funny story. Jeff set up an alarm to go off on the hall door if it was opened.. guess what went off at 3:00 am???? We all laughed, Luke was so busted! Then we went back to bed and even through my earplugs I hear footsteps on the roof...like the movie elf, I layed there wanting to yell "SANTA"....at forty years old my heart still went a pitter patter for Santa Claus. For a moment. Sweet. And  the kids said they heard the reindeer on the roof last night. Now that was some good Christmas cheer. Thanks Santa for all your hard work and sound effects and assembly!!!!! Here's some o

Reason

Image
"Come now,  let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." Isaiah 1:18 Merry, Merry Christmas from the Moores These pictures were taken tonight before our Christmas Eve service at church and then the kids in the sanctuary. Beautiful service. We thank God for such a  great day...nice sit down dinner and opening of one gift tonight. Kiddos are in bed already, so Santa must be on his way..... Enjoy your Christmas! Blessings, Suzanne

Root

Image
"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star." Revelation 22:16   I dedicate my Post this Sunday to Bruce Baily......... my first cousin, who went to be with the Lord this year and is very much missed here on earth by his family. I found this adorable picture of him on his daughter, Brooke's facebook and knew this was it! It is the SMILE i LOVE THE MOST...however, this manly man, always in my memory with jeans and a plaid shirt, but with a pumpkin and bunny ears...for the sake of a beloved grandchild, DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS! So why not post it on Christmas, we have covered all the holidays, I don't know I think I may have gotten a giggle from him on that? We had our annual Townsend family Christmas and any time someone we love is missing, and there have been several down the years, Mamaw and Papaw Townsend, Toots, Ray, Ed, Doyle, it is bittersweet. Restore

Image
"  Restore us, O LORD God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved." Psalm 80:19 (  Thursday's Post got pushed to Friday...)    Here's a little peek into our Thursday ............. Luke at our first annual "Appetizer Dinner" the night before school's out.. one member decided to have dinner at a friend's house..smile.  Chocolate covered strawberries (first time to do those, weren't the prettiest but very  yummy), hot bacon swiss dip with crackers, veggie tray, mini meatball subs and some cherry 7UP with  fun straws! We also wanted to watch a christmas movie as we ate... Disney's Scrooge was not the best selection as it was a little heavy for our light meal..haha! And here she is ... Abby and Alice enjoyed a fun afternoon at Alice's house, homework and study free   after a week of seventh grade exams!!!! So I repeat for the next four days til Christmas, Lord, Restore us!  May we

Revere

Image
"But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. " Malachi 4:2 Abby showing off her 2nd and 3rd place ribbons from her first Horse Show In Hartselle, Al...Way to go, girl!!! Luke holding his handmade "Congratulations" sign that he was waiting on the porch with when she got home! Priceless. To revere means to adore, highly respect and to worship. To revere our Lord and Savior is  our highest calling in this fallen world. O Come Let us Adore Him, Christ the Lord . Here I sit and write of our latest happenings with a sting in my heart for the Connecticut families  looking at pictures of their sweet children from just days ago. I pray this moment for those parents that the Lord will be glorified in and through this ...I don't even have a word. Certainly, my little guy adores his sister, and she him, give or take, they are siblings, right?? It is my hope that I teach them to never put mor

Running

Image
"You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth.?" Galatians 5:7 In April of last year, we adopted a little dog named Harley whose story was told that he found in the woods with other his other siblings. He was two when we adopted him. Abby fell in love with him when she saw him at the pet store. He is skinny, black and tan, house trained, crate trained and we have no idea what mix he is...but he is part of our family and we love him. He is Abby's dog though, she paid one hundred dollars of her own money for him! She just reminded me that I did buy his bed (and the vet bills, and the food, and the...haha). Meet Harley He is sweet as pie, that is you are female because he lived with females. He took about six months to not bark his head off every time Jeff walked through the door. We have made it through that transition and for the most part he is very good dog. I mean, he really has it made in the shade... he sleeps in the bed with A

Redeemer

Image
"For I know my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth." Job 19:25 Hey My friends, I just wanted to share this sweet picture that I found while doing some cleaning out and attempting to organize the other day. I finally decided to make some files and begin to decide what to keep and what to boo-hoo, throw away..out of the trillions of art pages and worksheets (yes really) that I had stuffed in drawers, bins and baskets. Well, I just started with drawers so I have a way to go. Anyway, this picture just took me back to so many good memories. Here's a few... 1. The two of them in the backyard playing together as little people... Summertime fun in the sprinkler, baby pools and picnics on the porch 2 Their imaginations... 3 Messy hair, scedule free days 4 Oh yea, crazy times with a two and five year old..hmm, lapse of memory from the cuteness of them looking so cozy that I forgot how cr..a..zy life could be at times, but we made it... 5Their l

Recognize

Image
"Thus you will recognize them by their fruits." Matthew 7:20 My Dad shared this verse with me a few months back. His words were "Honey, there's a verse that goes with what your saying and it says "you will know them by their fruits." Always the word. Everything has to be backed up with the word of God, truth, and this is certainly one that took me a while to grasp. But when I did, talk about eye opening...oh dear, to come out of denial right into the open field of truth! And to hear it out of my Daddy's mouth, knowing that it came first from my Holy Father's mouth. Yep, it hurt too. You mean what I am seeing on the outside is an indicator of what's inside. All this time, I am only seeing what I want to see. And when I line up with the word of God to recognize them (whoever) by their fruit...I realize the fruit is not from the healthy tree but the diseased one (Matthew 7:18). Uh oh. And in my recovering codependant self, I finally rec

Ride

Image
"In your majesty ride out victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness: let your right hand teach you awesome deeds! " Psalm 45:4 Abby's 13th Birthday Party at Rocking S Farms  Hey friends! Tonight I am encouraging you to ride it on out.  That's the word, Ride it out. When I was dialoging this post in my mind today, I really thought I would have a verse saying " ride horses" to go along with the theme of Abby's picture. Uh huh, but not the case at all when I began looking up verses...however, when I saw this one in Psalm 45:4, done. There are many of us, you, that are in the middle of something, on the brink of the break and we just gotta stick it out, or as I am saying tonight, RIDE IT OUT. Because we are not alone. Because there is light at the end of the tunnel. Because once we are on the other side our hand will be the very one reaching out to pull someone else over. Because in this world we will have tribulati

Room

"   And she brought forth her firstborn son,  and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger;  because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7  As I was trying to think of an "R" word from scripture to go with this series, room continued to come to mind. The first song we sang today in church was "Joy to the World" and for the first time ever, this chrismas hymn pierced my heart.  How many times have I sang this one? Hundreds. Joy to the World , the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, And Heaven and nature sing, And Heaven and nature sing, And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing. What was it today that was different? "Let every heart prepare Him room"....felt like a prayer or a plea, Lord, let them see, those that don't know you to accept you as their Savior or those that need to make room for you in their heart and Lord over every part of their life. So, th

Renew

"but they who wait for the LORD shall renew  their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles: they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 Hey friends, I wanted to post something that I wrote back in 2009, as clearly I was at a breaking point in the cancer process. Though  I have mainly posted on my busy week and christmas and life, it's been quite a week in my "world" or ministry of cancer. Recurrences, not so good reports and homegoings. It is the reality, the wave of ups and downs and as I pray, as our support group prays, I wanted to also just ask you to take a moment and pray for the many, many fighting cancer. Oh, and their families and friends, as it effects everyone. Thanks a million. Caringbridge Journal                  Written May 1, 2009       By:Suzanne Moore during her Cancer Treatment " Teach me your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth, give me an undivided heart, that I may fear
