2 Corinthians 2:14 " Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place." Urban Purpose Run: My First 5K Saturday, September 27, 2014 We did it! Thanks for the push, Sandy!  I cannot drink this water fast enough! My Co-workers from TherapySouth..Sandy, Amanda,Scott, Steve, Abby (Steve's daughter) We all need practice. I believe God always prepares us for what we need in the present as well as what is ahead. This is TherapySouth's second year to sponsor this race, which by the way, is a ministry that is very close to my heart. Urban Purpose was started by a friend, Jim McFarland, in our Sunday School class who felt called to go downtown Birmingham and serve the homeless. I remember when he and his wife, Karen started taking snacks, drinks, blankets and clothes to people on Sunday afternoons. My children still have a memory of  filling up some ziplock baggies full o

"Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud  of witnesses, let us lay  aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us and let us run with endurance  the race that is set before us"  Hebrews 12:1 For the past three weeks, I have begun to "ease" into running and may even be..almost.. to the point of saying.. that I like it (very softly:)). She told me that she runs about three miles, has a great route and we can go early morning. We set up the time, all the while, I am thinking to myself, "I will show up, and after that first mile, I wi

(picture to the left). I am sure if any of my neighbors were looking out their window it was a sight to see me staring at the ground and saying "only You, God" (and likely very loudly, due to the fact that I had my earbuds in and music blaring)! Two pieces of pine straw put perfectly together to form the cross on the road. What a sweet reminder of God's love! After I snapped a picture, I began to pick up the pace a bit and RUN. Baby steps. My faith in myself had been renewed that I was reminded to look to Jesus to help me run this race. The problem is I don't like to run. I never have, walking is just fine with me...smile! To be honest, I have never challenged myself to do so. So, this is the year! It's my
