Mother's Day 2016

"For no one can lay foundation other than that which is laid, which is
Jesus Christ."
1 Corinthians 3:11

Mother's Day 2016

Ever since the day I could hold a baby doll, I knew I wanted to be a Mother. As a child, I had strollers and cribs and "real" baby clothes and played Mommy daily. I knew that I wanted children and I thank God for the privilege of being a Mom to our two blessings! I heard way back in early motherhood "children are blessings not burdens." That stuck with me. I have learned way more from them in the past sixteen years than any other time in my life. As we navigate THROUGH each and every season, there's always a time of growth, not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally.

"A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel." Proverbs 1:5

I asked them both what their favorite thing about me was as their Mom:

Abby: That you understand. That I can talk to you.

Luke: That you are fun and funny (even when you are not trying to be;) and that you helped me through social studies.

And not so favorite...

They had both asked me a while back to hold off going over their chore list in the car, on the way home, that's their not so favorite. They still have a chore list, I just try not to start rattling off what they need to do, what they didn't do yesterday, last year, haha, you get the drift. I have tried to "zip it" on the way home, but it's free game once that door opens...ahhhh, motherhood.

Oh, I mess up a million times over, but by the grace of God, there is forgiveness. There is hope. Through the fun times and the victories and through the hard times and tears, our eyes and heart must be on Jesus, the foundation. The word of God HAS to be our guide. Today we were coming back from my parents house (Happy Mother's Day to the best Mom), Abby was driving her car, windows down, radio up...country music..and some questionable lyrics, good beat but then I heard a reference to scripture so I say "well that is scripture." Abby says "where", I can't quote the exact reference but I knew the verse and I shared the meaning. Recognizing the word of God is so important. At all times. In all circumstances. It is useful and applicable. It is our life.

"Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 11:19

Today has been one of my favorite Mother's Days....what a blessing!

Blessings,
Suzanne
