Get Your House In Order: Cancer Gala 2015

"For God said, who said, 
"Let there be light in the darkness, "
 has made us understand that this light

When Jeff sent me an email about going to another Gala this year, I can't say I was that excited. Don't get me wrong, I am all about raising funds for causes and these types of events are wonderful venues to do so. And for most people (girls), the idea of getting dressed up and going out is.. ideal. It used to be for me. Now, I prefer a much lower profile, a home cooked meal, earlier bedtime and being with my family. The problem with that is, I have made that ideal, so now we shake it up:)

I quickly changed my mind and my attitude when I found out that this was the ARTBLINK Gala for The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center to raise funds for cancer research. A cause close to my heart. And not to mention, Jeff and I are way over due for a date night. My attention has been in a thousand different directions lately. Yesterday I decided to begin again with these words....
be where you are.

We had such a good time, the artwork was fabulous, enjoyed seeing people we hadn't seen in a while and definitely had a few laughs. So glad for opportunity to go to such a worthwhile event!

On Your Mark

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 While walking on my everyday path and praying about the upcoming Race for the Cure, that I plan to RUN this year, my eyes fell right upon this cross. (picture to the left). I am sure if any of my neighbors were looking out their window it was a sight to see me staring at the ground and saying "only You, God" (and likely very loudly, due to the fact that I had my earbuds in and music blaring)! Two pieces of pine straw put perfectly together to form the cross on the road. What a sweet reminder of God's love! After I snapped a picture, I began to pick up the pace a bit and RUN. Baby steps. My faith in myself had been renewed that I was reminded to look to Jesus to help me run this race. The problem is I don't like to run. I never have, walking is just fine with me...smile! Get Your House In Order: Sunday Scripture

"So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,  To see Your power and glory. Psalm 63:2 I read these two verses to Luke this morning, he was the first one up, besides me. It was a great opportunity to tell him how I read the  reference verses that go along with the verses each day. We looked up the verses and read them as well. He thought that was cool (his words). We had a brief moment of discussion and then he moved on. We don't normally get that morning time together...what a blessing! Have a wonderful Sunday!
