31 Days of Pink: Book List

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:7

Reading is one of my loves and I hope that this list of books may be helpful for you or a friend going through breast cancer. The subject is vast and there are a ton of books out there! I chose not to use google for the first week or so and didn't begin any of the subject books until a week or so after surgery. Some books I started and had to wait until later to finish. It can be very overwhelming to read about other patients journey before you get to certain places. Odds are you will not have any of the same side effects or symptoms. I read the Bible every day with one of my devotion books. Otherwise, I read these books over the course of five years. I would also love any comments on books you have read and recommend!

Here's the List:

1)The Bible (truth, word of God)

2) Pearls From Heaven:Your Heavenly Father's Words of Love and Comfort
by Mary Grace Birkhead (beautiful pictures and scripture)

3) Praying Through Cancer:Set Your Heart Free from Fear
by Susan Sorensen and Laura Geist (compilation of author's devotions and prayers)

4) Streams in the Desert
by Chas E Cowman (my favorite)

5) Dear God, They Say It's Cancer
by Janet Thompson (great resource, room to write your thoughts down, scripture)

6) Dr Susan Love's  Breast Book
by Susan Love, MD (medical resource)

7) Jesus Calling:Enjoying Peace in His Presence
    by Sarah Young

8) Jesus Calling:365 Devotions for Kids
by Sarah Young (wonderful devotional book for children)

9) There's No Place Like HOPE: A Guide to Beating Cancer in Mind-Sized Bites
by Vickie Girard (quotes and short stories on topics, great during chemo)

10) After Breast Cancer: Answers to the Questions You're Afraid to Ask
by Musa Mayer (this one was well needed, highly recommend)

11) The Cancer Survivor's Guide: The Essential Handbook to Life after Cancer
by Michael Feuerstein and Patricia Findley (good for all cancer survivors)

I dedicate this post Marie Luft, who is in the fight and has done so with such grace and laughter! Every time I see or talk to her, she is positive.  One thing I love about Marie is her thoughtfulness, she sends the sweetest cards and thank you notes,  well, I love her laugh more! I am standing in prayer to the Great Physician, for you my friend... I will run the race for you on Saturday!

Blessings,
Suzanne
