Get your house in Order: Quiet

"and  to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life:
You should mind your own business
and work with your hands,
just as we told you."
1 Thessalonians 4:11

It has been really quiet around here today. Rarely am I here without someone on the weekend but today let me just tell you...the quiet was so nice. The house was quiet. My mind was quiet. And my hands were busy! Staying on the journey, I cleaned out both of Luke's closets and his dresser drawers while he was gone. He had already gone through the toy closet last week and filled a bag with toys to give away. So it was basically just a matter of straightening.

As for the dresser drawers, everything had to come out. And be folded. And be put neatly back in the drawers:) Some of my observations during this process were:lots of clothing that needed to be ironed (not my best skill), found lots of clothes I forgot he had and remembering that I had done this same process a couple of months ago.

Hmm, in the quiet I am reminded that I too need to iron out some of my wrinkles. I am finding more and more things that I forgot I like to do (and actually doing them). I am maintaining the small changes that I began to put into place at the beginning of the year. I always go back to three basic words: truth, order and cooperation. God is teaching me through daily discipline that as I make small changes in my life, they are impacting how I can influence others. All change I desire begins with me. He is the potter and I am the clay.

"Create in me clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

Day#66 Relish the quiet
