Remains
"There remains therefore a rest for the people of God."
Hebrews 4:9
Happy Sunday! I spent some time in Hebrews chapter four yesterday morning while on my mini vacation in Atlanta! Sipping some coffee (alot of coffee) and indulging in the quiet time, I did something I haven't done in a while. I sat and looked up every reference verse, to every verse, within this chapter and I wrote them down. All of them. Now, why on earth am I telling you that? Because it is something this sweet little ninety year old lady taught me to do years ago and it was then that I was drawn back to God and with a new desire to read and study His word daily. Anyway, I wanted to share with you that in this one chapter of sixteen verses I have three favorite verses... of POWER...
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12
"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin."
Hebrews 4:15
"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16
As we start our week off, I pray that these verses will remind you as they did me of God's promises. Try this week starting off your morning with these verses. I have parts of them memorized, for they are the very sword I pull out when the arrows start flying. I am going to make that my goal this week...memorizing these verses. Love to have you join me. Seems on Sunday, and especially this time of day (night) I begin to make my mental list. Well, looks a little different tonight because I am not allowing myself to make one (a worry list) .
Thank you, Jesus for you your constant care over this heart of mine and for your word that is our life. I praise you for giving me your healing touch and your everlasting love to carry me through any and every situation I encounter. Period. I pray for those reading right now that their needs are met and your word sinks deep into their heart. We love you much, Lord Jesus. Amen
Have an awesome week! I know that mine is busy, according to my google calendar, but all is well.....Hebrews 4...The promise of Rest..holy rest.
"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16
Blessings,
Suzanne
